THE BUZZ

"Anita Jesse knows what she's talking about." -- John Ritter, Emmy Award and Golden Globe Winner

"Anita's approach to the creative process allows the actor to feel at ease while taking chances. Anita teaches from a positive, supportive point of view. This is not the psycho-babble you get from a lot of coaches." -- Bryan Cranston, starring in "Malcolm in the Middle" (FOX TV)

"One of our country's finest acting teachers." --Larry Silverberg, author of The Actor's Guide To Qualified Acting Coaches

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

We can help you consistently find within yourself all you need to make each and every character you play vibrant with life and authenticity.
We can help you rediscover the passion in your work, replace your doubts and fears with energy and truth, and master a reliable technique that sustains you in the most demanding circumstances.
We can help you free the creative artist within you.
We can help you polish your audition techniques and prepare for the realities of the industry.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

1

You need to be prepared for the real world of the film and television industry. Our solution-oriented approach does that.
It doesn't matter whether or not you think the industry's demands are reasonable. It only matters how effectively you can meet those demands.

You will learn to work quickly and independently.
Our techniques will help you become efficient, self-reliant, and confident. And, you will be capable of working quickly, as you often must in the real world. Our actors learn to lay the groundwork alone- without benefit of rehearsal, then show up at the audition or on the set ready to deliver a performance that is professional, unique, and rich.
You will develop cold reading skills.
We can help you do that, even if you have "never been good at cold reading."
2 You will get on-camera experience.
Our actors work on their feet in front of the camera and enjoy ample oportunites to fine-tune their camera technique.
3 You will become a better actor by acting.
Our classes are small, so you will be on your feet twice every workout session. These are not theory sessions. You will confront your demons, test your skills, and experiment with new techniques.
4 You will find a supportive, challenging, and inspiring environment.
You will find kindred spirits who are fully committed to the process and serious about their careers.
You deserve solution-oriented comments and specific methodologies.
Your critiques will be from the teacher only.
The process-oriented comments from the teacher will be much more useful than another actor's ideas about how to interpret the character.

WHO WE ARE
Anita Jesse's books are used in
acting programs across the country.
Anita Jesse established her studio in 1978 and since then has coached hundreds of actors who work in film, television, and stage. Larry Silverberg, author of Qualified Acting Coaches, Los Angeles, calls Anita "one of our country's finest teachers."
Both Ms. Jesse's books: Let The Part Play You and The Playing Is The Thing. serve as required texts in academic and professional training programs across the country.
While Anita teaches at her studio in Los Angeles most of the year, she also conducts professional and academic workshops across the country. She frequently appears as the guest lecturer at seminars for actors and theater educators. Ms. Jesse's solution-oriented approach not only identifies actor problems, but provides specific tools that free the creative spirit.
James Ingersoll is a veteran of over 150 film and television roles. Mr. Ingersoll has worked with Ms. Jesse since 1978 and has been teaching at The Anita Jesse Studio since 1992.

THE MISSION
We feel blessed to work with artists, but this town is hard on artists. The competition for film and television roles is fierce. You survive only if you accept the realities of the business. But, why bother if, in the process, you abandon your creative essence?
We offer a technique that prepares you for a successful career in film and television, yet celebrates and nurtures your creative spirit. It's a delicate balance, and we welcome a limited number of fearless and determined actors who are willing to embrace the challenge.
