The Anita
Jesse Studio encourages students to produce original short films.
When we have a group of actors who bring in films, we host a festival to celebrate
the work.

THE
BUZZ
(Sample comments from the
audience at our 2002 Fall Film Festival)
"I have been to film festivals all over the country, and this is one of the
best ones I have ever seen." -- Jason
Schmid |
| "I viewed dozens of
reels while preparing for the new edition of Acting Is Everything, but I didn't
see any acting that compared to the work in these films." -- Judy
Kerr |

MEETING
THE CHALLENGE
Acting for film and
television makes some unique demands on the actor. For instance, so much of the
story is told with the eyes, there are myriad physical demands such as "cheating
a look," and the story is shot out of sequence. The ideal method for acquiring
the skills particular to film and television acting is plenty of experience in
front of the camera. Because we understand the demands of the industry and recognize
the solution, we tailor our acting classes accordingly.
We offer ongoing On-Camera
Classes, and we direct all class critiques to camera-friendly performances. We
provide a training ground for serious film and television actors. Because we know
nothing beats practical experience, we encourage our actors to produce short films
and experience hands-on film making. When our actors produce their short films,
The Studio sponsors and hosts film festivals to celebrate the work.
Our actor/producers finance
their three-to-six minute films and have complete autonomy over their work. They
cast both from within and outside The Studio. Some individuals function as writer/producer/director/principal
director of photography/and editor. Others collaborate with technical talent from
outside the group and participate only as producer and actor. The various combinations
produce a potent mix of vision and talent. |
